2026 Chapter Convention Info

Our February 18th, 2026 meeting will be our chapter’s annual Convention. This is the meeting where elections will be held for all of our chapter officer positions:

Co-Chairs – Two positions. They preside over Local Chapter and Steering Committee Meetings. The Co-Chair’s will be the official public spokespersons for Chattanooga DSA and will initiate such actions and policies as the Local Chapter’s general welfare may demand. They are responsible also for coordinating the day-to-day operations and political work of the Local Chapter’s Branches and Working Groups.

Secretary – Responsible for answering all correspondence and queries of the Local Chapter, and for maintaining an up-to-date membership list of the Local Chapter. They will ensure effective communication with the national DSA. They will temporarily assume the responsibilities of the Co-Chairs if neither are able to execute said responsibilities. Responsible also for the taking of minutes of all Chattanooga DSA and Steering Committee Meetings, and shall have custody official records of the Local Chapter. 

Treasurer – Responsible for the funds and financial records of the Local Chapter. All funds collected by the Local Chapter will be turned over to the Treasurer, who shall deposit them in a bank account under the name of the Local Chapter. In cooperation with the Secretary, the Treasurer will be responsible for ensuring that membership dues are paid up-to-date. The Treasurer will prepare the annual Local Chapter budget, and deliver the Local Chapter financial report to the General Meeting of the Local Chapter, as well as periodic progress reports as requested by the Steering Committee of the Local Chapter.

Communications Officer – Responsible for directing and facilitating the external communications of the Local Chapter, including but not limited to social media posts, newspaper articles, interviews, videos, multi-media content etc. All official statements from Chattanooga DSA must be confirmed by the Steering Committee or vote of a Local Chapter meeting.

Outreach Coordinator – Responsible for establishing or maintaining an official outreach process to conduct one-on-ones and coordinating with other trusted members of the chapter to conduct one-on-ones with new or interested members. Works with the Steering Committee and working group leaders to determine the best outreach strategies for current members. Reaching out to members in good standing that have not participated in any chapter work in over 6 months. These responsibilities will increase or change as this role evolves over time.

Harassment and Grievance Officers – Two positions. Follows the duties as described in the Unified Grievance Policy Established in the 2025 National Convention. They will be committed to providing transparent and fair investigations on claims of prohibited behavior, work with the plaintiff, and consult with DSA’s National HGO to resolve any claims that occur in the chapter.
